Betty Jean Hires

Betty Jean Hires, 82, of Georgetown, passed away at 7:35am, Saturday, May 2, 2015, at Gardenview Manor Nursing Home, Danville. She was born on September 26, 1932, in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Max and Myrtle {Moody} Lieberman, both deceased. On August 31, 1949, Betty was wed to Floyd Hires in Omaha, NE, until his passing on December 26, 1981. She will be missed by: her daughters, Barbara (Dan) York of Westville, Donna Miles of Danville, & Linda Kennedy of Georgetown; her twelve grandchildren; 18 step great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; her brother-in-law, Richard Hires of Paris; and her sisters-in-law, Nancy Joseph of Newman, IL, Deloris Lieberman of Iowa, & Marie Lieberman of California. She was preceded in death by her daughters, Kay & Charlene; her two brothers; and one sister. Betty had worked at Zenith in Paris, Republic Plastics in Georgetown, Peterson's in Danville and also worked as a waitress and bartender. She was a member of the American Legion Dornblaser Post #203 Women's Auxiliary. She enjoyed dancing, bowling, and gambling. She loved her cat, Boo. Betty was an avid Nebraska Cornhuskers fan and loved to watch football. Above all, she loved her family and grandkids and spending time with them. A celebration of Betty's life will be held at 10:00am, Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, Georgetown. Visitation will be held 4pm-7pm, Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Cherry Point Cemetery, Chrisman.
