Betty Jane Harris, of Danville, joined her beloved husband Gene in heaven on Saturday, May 12, 2007 at 4:46 p.m. at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria after a sudden stroke. Born August 27,1928, in Danville township to parents Howard Hughes Goble, Sr. and Elva Pearl Miller Goble. She married the love of her life Pastor Clarence Gene Harris on Dec. 23,1951. he has been waiting on her in heaven since 1999 ,he passed away after battling cancer. Betty also joins in heaven her mother and father. Mrs Harris leaves behind many heartbroken people including her two sons. Brian E. of Fithian and Kevin E. (Cathy) of Homer; two grandchildren Brandi M. of Carlinville and Bryan E. of Danville; a brother Howard (Shirley) Goble of Oakwood; two sisters Alice (Bob) McCleery of Tuscon, AZ and Peggy Craddock of Broadlands. Betty also is survived by numerous beloved sisters and brother in laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Mrs Harris graduated as Valedictorian of Oakwood High Schools 1946 Class. She then attended college at Illinos State University in Bloomington and graduated in 1950 with a Bachelors in Elementary Education. Betty taught for Kankakee Schools and then went on to teach for 28 years in Danville District 118 schools where she touched many peoples lives before retiring in 1982. She was an avid life long Christian. Bettys husband was ordained a minister on Feb. 27,1982 and Mrs. Harris loved God with all of her heart. In the final years of her life, she became a member of Ridgeview Baptist Church and loved attending service and Donna Longers Sunday School Class. Mrs. Harris lovd reading and discussing the Bible with her many friends, taking mail in Bible courses, spending time with her children and grandchildren, reading, ice cream, and helping other people. Mr & Mrs Harris drove around Danville with the word IXOYE being proclaimed on their license plates. Mrs. Harris wanted all to know that Jesus, Christ, God,Son, and Savior ( which is what her license plate stood for) loved all people. Betty loved people with all of her heart and everyone that had the pleasure of knowing her would agree that there was no one with a kinder and purer heart.Funera services; 2 pm Wednesday May 15,2007 at Ridgeview Baptist Church, 3838 N. Vermilion Street, Danville with Pastor Dave Garver officiating. There will be a reception at Ridgeview immediately following the burial which will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Danville. Visitation 5-8:00 p.m., Tuesday May 14,2007 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion in Danville.
