Betty Jane Becker, 92, of Georgetown, passed away at 8:55am, Thursday, February 7, 2013, at Pleasant Meadows Christian Village, Chrisman. She was born on October 14, 1920, in Marshall, IL, the daughter of Ernest and Ellen {Switzer} Smitley, both deceased. She was united in marriage to John Becker on September 19, 1938, until his passing on February 29, 1972. She is survived by: her children, Jerry (Catherine) Becker of Keystone Heights, FL, Mary Ellen (Dan) Gocken of Georgetown, Pam (Jerry) Hawker of Danville, & Kathi (Victor) Verstraete of Fort Worth, TX; her son-in-law, Andrew Jackson of Pearland, TX; her fifteen grandchildren; her 25 great grandchildren; and 8 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her son, Ricky Becker; her daughter, Janet Jackson; her grandsons, Tom Becker & Cameron McClure; 6 brothers; and 6 sisters. Betty worked for Estad Products in Danville for a time. She was a member of the First Church of Christ in Georgetown and the American Legion Dornblaser Post #203 Women's Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing cards & bingo and enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas, NV. She also enjoyed reading. Above all, Betty loved being with her family when they played cards together. A celebration of Betty's life will be held at 2:00pm, Sunday, February 10, 2013, at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, Georgetown, with Phil Miller officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given in her name to Pleasant Meadows Christian Village, Chrisman.
