Cayuga, Ind. -- Betty J. Thornton, 70, of Cayuga, passed away at 12:07 a.m. CST Monday (March 5, 2007) at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville, Illinois. She was bon on August 6, 1936, in Owens,Texas, the daughter of the late Horace T. and Mamie Alice Howton Blanton. She married Marion C. Thornton on May 8, 1958 in Danville, Illinois. He survives. Other survivors include: one daughter, Patti(Jim)Moore of Cayuga, Indiana; one son, Richard(Glenda)Fout of Knoxville, Tennessee; seven grandchildren, Misti Thornton, Nathaniel Fout, Daniel Fout, Dee Cawthon, Darin Moore, David Moore and Jeff Moore; four great grandchildren, Tyler Blackburn, Dustin Cawthon, Garreth Cawthon and Ethan Moore; one sister, Peggy McDonald of Hollywood, Florida. She was preceded in death by one son, Christopher Thornton and two brothers, Billie and Robert Blanton. Betty formerly worked at the Georgetown Plastic Factory, Estad Products and Bohn Aluminum. She worked as a social worker for Community Action and last worked as a CNA for Home Health Care. She was a member of the Cayuga Chirstian Church. Betty enjoyed collecting cookbooks, watching NASCAR, going to rummage sales and playing euchre. Funeral services: 11 a.m. EST Friday, March 9, 2007 at DeVerter Brothers Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Rev. Steve Vitaniemi; Burial: Georgetown Cemetery in Georgetown, Illinois; Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. EST Thursday, March 8, 2007 at the funeral home. Family request contributions may be made to the Covington Christian School, P.O. Box 267, Covington, Indiana 47932.
