Betty J. Okerlund

Danville- Betty J. Okerlund, 85, of Danville passed away at 7:55 AM on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 in Dania, FL. She was born on September 25, 1924 in Mansfield, IL, the daughter of William and Carrie M Clark Koehn. She married Robert Okerlund on December 8, 1944 in Champaign. He preceded her in death on June 10, 2004. She is survived by a son Robert (Debra) Okerlund, Jr., of Danville; daughter Annette (Chris) Willett of Dania Beach, FL; and a granddaughter Heidi Okerlund of Urbana. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Harold Koehn and sister Velma Kurzweg. Betty was a graduate of Champaign High School and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Danville and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed gardening, painting, attending church events, and spending time with her friends and family. A service to celebrate the life of Betty J. Okerlund will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville. Pastor Richard Sullins will officiate. A visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Tuesday May 25 also at the funeral home. Entombment will take place at a later time at Sunset Memorial Park.
