Betty J. Defebaugh Betty J. Defebaugh, of Tilton, Illinois, passed this life on January 14th, 2011 at Vermilion Manor Nursing Home. Betty was born to Frederick and Harriet (Harper) Hodge on February 25th, 1930 in Covington, Indiana. She graduated from Covington High School in 1948 and attended Purdue University. She is survived by her daughters Karen (Darrell) Heath and Mary Defebaugh-Techtow as well as her grandchildren Tessa Heath, Amanda (Allan) Shepherd, Lindsay (Randy) Wheeler and Cory Heath, and her great-grandchildren Nikolas Shepherd, Caden Shepherd, Tristan Heath and Trinity and Gracey Wheeler. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers Woodrow Wilson Allen, David Hodge and John Hodge, and two sisters Marjorie Surdam and Dorothy Hodge, and her cats Puddy, Bootsie, Foo Foo, Pepe, Sammy, Sadie, Ziggy and Molly. Betty retired from the Illiana Healthcare System (Veterans Administration) on January 1st, 1993, with over 30 years of service as a nursing assistant. She had also worked prior to her employment at the V.A. at Donnelly Printing in Crawfordsville, Indiana, Teepak, General Electric and St. Elizabeth Hospital all in Danville, Illinois. She loved caring for animals of every kind, especially her cats, she also enjoyed cross stitching, jigsaw, crossword and word search puzzles and spending time with her family and attending her grandsons football, baseball and basketball games. A Celebration of the life of Betty Defebaugh will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 22nd, 2011 at Sunset Memorial Parks Living Waters at the Swan Pond, with Randy Taylor officiating. Following the service she will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home is assisting the family with the cremation arrangements.
