Betty Henderson

Betty Jean Henderson, 83, of Oakwood (formerly of Westville) peacefully went to be with her Lord at 5:40pm on Friday, November 20, 2009. She was born September 30, 1926 in Bethany, IL the daughter of Dennis Virgil and Merle Lucille (Harsh) Cook. She married Hugh (Bud) D. Henderson on May 18, 1947 in Bethany, IL. He preceded her in death on September 15, 2005. Also preceding her in death were her parents and her sister, Mary. Betty leaves to cherish her life and memory four sons: Dennis (Marie) Henderson of Danville; Gene (Kathleen) Henderson of Effingham; Kim (Donna) Henderson of Danville; one daughter, Virginia Peach (Rick) Wilson of Clearwater, FL. One brother, Robert (Wanda) Cook of Huachuca City, AZ. Nine grandchildren: Tammy Glines, of Danville; Tim (Missi) Henderson of Las Vegas, NV; Erin & Shannon Henderson of Sullivan; Devin Henderson of Vale, CO; Dustin & David Henderson of Danville; Kate Wilson of Wesley Chapel, FL and Kyle Wilson of Clearwater, FL. Six great-grandchildren: Courtney, Candice, and Keely Glines of Danville; Hannah, Abigail, and Phoebe Henderson of Las Vegas, NV; and numerous nieces and nephews all of whom were very special to her. Mrs. Hendersons education ranged from a one-room school house to Eastern Illinois University. She retired in 1991 from Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. in Danville. She was a faith-filled member of Westville First Church of Christ for over 50 years and enjoyed cooking, reading, crafting, traveling, helping others and spending time with her family. Betty was fondly known by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
