Betty E. Steelman

Betty Ellen {Richardson} Steelman, 93, of Olivet, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 8:57pm, December 15, 2016, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Collison, IL on July 19, 1923, the daughter of John William and Grace Agnes {Shank} Richardson, both deceased. She graduated from Catlin High School in 1942. She was united in marriage to Burnell Matthew Steelman on February 3, 1946, in Danville, until his passing 49 years later to the date on February 3, 1995. Betty will be dearly missed by: her children, Judie Carlton of Olivet, Keith (Sheila) Steelman of Catlin, Joyce (Don) Coon of Danville, & Connie (Jim) Rienbolt of Olivet; her ten grandchildren, Kristi (Kevin) Carlton-Latoz of Olivet, Brad ( Donna) Carlton of Olivet, Duane (Ange) Carlton of Georgetown, Jodie (Michael) Steelman-Wilson of Crawfordsville, IN, Julie (Robert) Steelman-Emery of Fishers, IN, Tracy (Derek) List-Fenwick of Muncie, IN, Mark (Jill) List of Danville, Jamie Rienbolt-Arnett of Olivet, & Ryan Steelman of Bloomington; and her 19 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her son, Kenny Steelman; a grandson, Matthew Steelman; and great grandson, Dontae Rodriguez. During WWII, Betty worked for Republic Aircraft in Evansville, IN, building P-47 Fighter planes for the War Effort while her fianc served in the US Army in Europe. She was actively involved in the ministry at the Olivet Church of the Nazarene for many years. A celebration of Betty's life will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, December 21, 2016, at Olivet Church of the Nazarene, 5054 Olivet Rd, Georgetown, with Pastor James Blue officiating. Visitation will be held 5pm to 8pm, Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E. West Street, Georgetown. She will be laid to rest in Oak Hill Cemetery, Danville.
