Betty Bernice Melvin

Betty Melvin, 75, of Danville, passed away at home with family at her side on Friday April 8, 2016. Betty was born March 27, 1941 the daughter of Bernard and Nellie (Palmer) Williams, she survives. Betty married Jack E. Lewis Sr. in 1957 Together they had three children. She later married Allen Melvin in 1978 he preceded her in death on August 6, 2000. Surviving Betty are her children; Jack E. (Brenda) Lewis Jr., Romona L. (Robert) Bowman, Tammy S. (Larry) Dieu; seven grandchildren Jeremiah Ford, Christian Block, Sheena Collom, Damian Brown, Brent Bowman, Nicole Sollars, Cole Lewis; fourteen great-grandchildren; one brother Bill Williams; significant other John Snider; four very special friends Delores Lappin, Celina Wise, Lib Swisher and Nancy Snider; her loving pet Foxy. Betty was preceded in death by her father, her husband, and one sister Shirley Craft. Betty was a member of the Women of Moose as well as Fairview Sportsman Club. She enjoyed outdoor activities including; fishing, mushrooming, and working in her garden. Betty was also known for her love of rummaging. A celebration of Bettys life will be held on Tuesday April 12, 2016 at 11AM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville burial will follow the service at Oakhill Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday April 12, 2016 from 9AM until 11AM. Memorial may be made in Betty's name to IROQUOIS Memorial Hospice.
