Betty Ann Rice

Danville- Betty A. Rice, 85, of Danville, passed away at 5:32 AM on Friday, February 10, 2012 at Danville Care Center. She was born on May 18, 1926 in Georgetown, the daughter of Charles and Lora (Burton) Lawlyes. She married Robert J. Rice, May 22, 1947 in Paris, IL. He preceded her in death December 29, 1969. Those who will miss her is a son Robert A. (Dianne) Rice of Danville; granddaughter Kimberly (Andrew) Norton of Danville; grandson Chris (Shelly) Rice of Catlin; great-grandsons Chase, Ethan, and Samuel Norton, and Kyle and Dylan Rice; brother Robert Lawlyes of Danville; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Ada Jane Debarba. She was formerly head of the pediatrics dept. at St. Elizabeth Hospital where she graduated. A nurse with Dr. Martha Parker for many years, Betty retired from the Veteran's Administration Hospital in 1990. She was an avid Cubs fan, and enjoyed her friends and family. As per her wishes, Betty will be cremated and a celebration of life memorial service will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Danville. Father Greg Nelson will officiate. Burial will follow at Georgetown Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2-3 PM with a prayer service offered at 3PM on Sunday, February, 12 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville.
