Bette Ann Brown

Bette Ann Brown (née Hill), 92, died peacefully, Sunday, April 19, 2026, at the Villas of Holly Brook in Danville, IL.

Bette was born October 21, 1933, the only child of Opal (Colvin) Hay. On April 6, 1952, she married Dale D. Brown in Danville, IL. They celebrated 55 years of marriage together before his death in June 2007.

Bette is survived by her daughter, Bridget Brown; son, Daniel (Nancy) Brown both of Danville, IL; grandchildren, Sean Craig, Justin (Sierra) Brown, Lindsey (Max) Steinbaugh; great-grandchildren, Lydia Steinbaugh and Samson Brown; son-in-law,     Steven (Laurie) Craig; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Dale, she was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, Perry (Linda) Brown; sister-in-law, Pat (Forrest) Furman; granddaughter, Jordan Ann Craig; and special friend, Bernard Lewallen.

Bette enjoyed working outside the home as a Pharmacist Assistant at Harding’s Pharmacy, and later as an Administrative Assistant at Edward D. Jones Financial Advisors. She was also honored to be elected on the Danville City Council where she served one term.

Bette was active in many civic organizations and valued her numerous friendships, some that lasted over several decades.

Her kids were truly her pride and joy, and the mere mention of her grandchildren brought the biggest smile to her face.

Although she was sad to have outlived many of her friends and loved ones, we are forever grateful to have had her with us for 92 wonderful years.

The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the nurses and caretakers in both Assisted Living and Memory Care at the Villas of Holly Brook for their kindness and compassion shown to Bette over the last few years.

A celebration of life will be held for the family at a later date.

Please consider a contribution in Bette’s memory to the American Legion Post #210 to continue their work in our community.

The family invites you to share memories, photos, and messages of comfort on her tribute wall at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com .
