Bessie L. Ellis, 89, of Danville, passed away at Pleasant Meadows Christian Village on August 2, 2012. Bessie was born February 4, 1923, in Indiana, daughter of William and Mary Wilson. She married James Ellis on June 30, 1941. They were married for 66 years. Bessie is survived by two daughters- Norma Jean (Robert) Delmotte of Georgetown, IL and Marjorie (Jeff) Hutton of Oakwood, IL, seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Bessie leaves three loving sisters- Nellie Gritten, Julia McHenry, Rosie Curtis and a special sister in law, Mary Wilson. She is preceded in death by her parents, her son-James W. Ellis and her husband. Bessie graduated from Kingman High School in Indiana. Later in life, she graduated from cosmetology school and for many years had a beauty shop in her home. Bessie enjoyed traveling, camping, playing cards, reading, shopping, her T.O.P.S club and Wednesdays with her daughters. The first thing you noticed about Bessie was her smile. That smile, along with her laugh, will be deeply missed by family. A Celebration of Bessie's Life will be held on Monday, August 6, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville with Pastor Ronald Wilson officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 AM prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Lower Mounds Cemetery in Covington, IN. Memorials can be made in Bessie's name to Pleasant Meadows Christian Village in Chrisman, IL.
