Bessie I. Maner

Bessie I. Maner, 77, of Danville, passed away at 6:08 a.m. Saturday, August 13th, 2011 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center. Bessie was born on May 18th, 1934, in Danville, Illinois, the daughter of Gordon and Opal (Cockrell) Lee. She was married to Euel D. Maner in 1955 in Danville, Illinois. He preceded her in death on September 9th, 1996. She is survived by two brothers- Donald Lee of Danville and James (Betty) Lee of North Carolina; three sisters- Alice Hafner of Danville, Shirley (Richard) Newberry of Danville and Susan (David) Merritt of Paris; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, step-father- Lloyd Reeves, brother- Robert Lee, sister- Judith Dokey and brother-in-law- Lowell Hafner. Bessie worked at General Electric. She enjoyed flowers, dogs and babysitting when she was younger. Bessie also enjoyed spending time with her family. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 16th, 2011 at Oakhill Cemetery in Danville, with Pastor James Blue officiating. Memorials may be made in Bessie's name to the Danville Humane Society. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center is in charge of arrangements.
