Bessie 'Babe' L. Hummer

Danville- Bessie “Babe” L. Hummer, 88, Danville, passed away at 4 am on September 01, 2013 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home. She was born on January 23, 1925 in Gridley, IL to Fredrick and Lillian Spencer Seal. She was married to Harry C. Hummer in 1946 in Danville, IL. He preceded her in death. She is survived by her grandchildren Amy Kamplain, Greg (Debbie) Kamplain, Shawn McKillop of TX. Eric (Tina) McKillop of TX; Great-grandchildren Daniel Kamplain, Ashley McKillop, and Joshua McKillop of TX. Her sons-in-law Wes (Judy) Kamplain and Jim (Ridgey) Mckillop. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers William Seal, Russell Seal, Lawrence Seal; her sister Ruth Irene Johnson; and her two daughters Lillian Mckillop, and Sally Kay Kamplain. Bessie was an avid crossword puzzle solver; she would solve the puzzles in both the Commercial News and News Gazette. Bessie also loved spending time by herself just reading a book. She also enjoyed fishing with her late husband Harry. Bessie was also well known for baking pies, and any type of pie, she had been baking pies for her family since she was in high school. A celebration of Bessies life will be held at 11:00am on Friday September 6, 2013 at the Danville V.A. Chapel with Kent Tibben officiating and burial at Danville National Cemetery.
