Bertha I. Vinson passed away peacefully at Brookdale Assisted Living in Urbana, IL on July 27, 2017. Bertha was born on January 27, 1921 in Linton, Indiana, daughter of Marcel and Irene LeGrand Duvivier. She married Wesley J. Vinson, Muncie, IL on December 28, 1941 in Westville, IL. Bertha attended Westville public schools. She was a member of the Collison Methodist Church and St. James Methodist Church, Danville. She was an active member for many years with the Ladies Aid Society at Collison Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley, in 2002 and by both parents. She is survived by her daughter Irene (Fred) Wahlfeldt of Urbana and two grandchildren, Scott (Tracy) Wahlfeldt of Fithian and Leslie (Brent) Curran of Seattle Washington. She has four great grandchildren, Amanda Wahlfeldt (Danville); Ashley Wahlfeldt (Indianapolis, IN); Vinson Curran and Lily Curran (Seattle). She is also survived by her sister, Lucette Liggett of Danville. Bertha enjoyed her life on the farm for 50 years as the wife of a farmer in the Fithian area. She was an excellent cook. She worked briefly at Carson Pirie Scott & Company in Danville, IL. She enjoyed playing golf at Turtle Run in Danville with her husband and friends, and she enjoyed music, especially dancing with her husband to big bands. She also enjoyed singing. She was a member of the Eastern Star of Pilot Township. Most of all she enjoyed her grandchildren while they were young, taking them to school activities. In her later years, she made many friends at Liberty Estates in Danville where she resided for seven years. Her best friend and roommate at Brookdale Assisted Living, Urbana, before she died was Eva Munger. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11am on Monday July 31, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville. Officiating will be Pastor Robert Rasmus. Burial will be at Embury Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9am to 11am Monday July 31, 2017 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Collison Methodist Church or Harbor Lights Hospice Care, 322 W. Marion St., Forsyth, IL.
