Danville- Bertha Bert L. Woodford, 73, of Danville passed away at 5:45 PM on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. She was born on March 5, 1938 in Mattoon, IL to John and Rita Pygott Pugh. She married Malcolm Tucker in 1971 in Danville. He preceded her in death in 1991. She later married Albert Woody Woodford on January 11, 2002 in Danville. He survives. Also surviving are one son, Robert (Susan) Asmar of Bloomington; 3 step-sons William (Vicki) Woodford, Thomas Woodford, and Edward (Debbie) Woodford; 3 brothers Robert (Melissa) Pugh, Jim (Gloria) Pugh, and Chuck (Jackie) Pugh; 2 sisters Edna Mae Kemper and Cathy (William) Double; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sons, Moses Gene and Michael Asmar, 4 brothers brothers Fred, Ed, Jerry, and Harry Pugh, and 2 step-sons Neal and Larry Tucker. Bert left her job at GE to start her own beauty salon, Berts Clip and Curl. She loved the shop as well as her customers. She retired in 2002 after 33 years. She also was an avid bowler, which she was involved with for over 40 years. She was the League Secretery for over 30 years for which she was inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame. In addition, she enjoyed boating, fishing, and water skiing. Bert loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her kids and grandkids. A service to celebrate the life of Bertha Bert Woodford will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Pastor Jay Sorrell will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4 to 8PM on Friday, April 15 also at Sunset.
