Bert Acree

Bert Acree Jr., 74, of Danville, passed away Saturday, November 26th, 2011 at his home. Bert was born on April 27th, 1937, in Danville, the son of Elbert and Louise (Powell) Acree Sr. He married Janet L. Pratt on September 1st, 1956, in Danville. She preceded him in death on September 16th, 2011. He is survived by his four children- Steve (Gena) Acree of Pontiac, Illinois, Bud (Cindy) Acree of Danville, Sherry (Dale) Daugherty of Danville and Mary Tutwiler of Danville. He is also survived by his 14 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren and all of his close friends at the 610 Tap. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, granddaughter- Kenetia Lee, two grandsons- Samuel and Daniel Tutwiler, brother- William Acree and sister- Dorothy Grimes. Bert attended Danville Schools. He worked at Pepsi Cola in Danville for 34 years, until he retired in 1990. He enjoyed gardening, mushroom hunting, hunting, and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. A Celebration of the Life of Bert Acree Jr. will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 1st, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home, with Rev. Ed Tutwiler officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Per Bert's wishes he will be cremated.
