Bernard Eugene Kelly, 84, of Elsmere, KY, formally of Danville passed away 11:15am Saturday February 12, 2005 at his residence. He was born March 27, 1920 in Litchfield, IL, to Bernard James and Anna Josephine (Bartman) Kelly. Bernard married Ruth Francis October 12, 1947 in Danville, she preceded him in death August 15, 1984. He later married Evelyn Mastin January 6, 1987 in Florida. She survives. Bernard is also survived by one son, James R. Kelly of Green Valley, IL, one stepdaughter, Bonnie Taylor of Elsmere, two sisters, Elizabeth "Betty" (Van) Burnett of Danville and Mary Jane (Bill) Figueras of Williamsport, IN, four grandchildren, Karleen (Kelly) Sherrill, Karl and Kevin Kelly, Evelyn (Thomas) Beck of Elsmere, whom Bernard made his home with, one step-grand daughter Rachel Kassel, one great- grand daughter Kaitlyn, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Ruth, one son Dennis G. Kelly, and one brother, William B. Kelly. Bernard was a graduate of Litchfield Community High School, served in the United States Navy from 1940-1946, and was a postal carrier in Danville, retiring after twenty plus years of service. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church while residing in Danville and Holy Cross Catholic Church in Covington, Ky. Bernard belonged to the Knights of Columbus.
