Bernadine Spitz, 64, of Georgetown, passed away at 7:11am, Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at Vibra Hospital, Springfield, IL. She was born the daughter of Forrest Glenn and Teresa {Power} Brewer on March 11, 1950, in Bloomington, Illinois. She was united in marriage to Daniel Spitz on December 19, 1970, in Tolono, Illinois. He will miss her dearly. She will also be missed by: her children, Trena (Dave) Millsap of Terre Haute, IN, Tammy (Dave) Zapatta of Williamsport, IN, Darlene (Roberto) Valletta of Tampa, FL, Tracy (Jason) Hamm of Danville, IL, Jullie (Dennis) Bond of Ethel, MS, Heather (Chris) Douglass of Georgetown, IL, Jennifer Holycross of Lindsay, OK, Michael (Rachel) Spitz of Burbank, IL, Tiffany (Chris) Miller of Tryon City, OK, Daniel (Kristina) Spitz Jr of Georgetown, IL, Christopher Spitz of Georgetown, IL, Samuel Shepherd of Georgetown, IL, & Sarah Spitz of Danville, IL; her 15 grandchildren; and her siblings, Forrest Brewer of Tolono, IL, Frank Brewer of Pinehurst, NC, Ruth Ann Silver of Bloomington, IL, & Eileen Brewer of Springfield, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Billy Brewer. Bernadine was a teacher & master trainer at Parkland College in Champaign. She co-developed an Adoption Program for Vermilion County, The Family Tree Connections. Bernadine fostered over 50 children and adopted nine children over 30 years. She was a loving Mom with a huge heart and was an advocate for education for Special-Needs children. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00am, Friday, February 13, 2015, at St. Marys Catholic Church, 231 N State St, Westville, with Fr. Timothy Sauppe officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Rosary Service will begin at 9:50am. She will be laid to rest in Bailey Cemetery, Tolono, Illinois. Memorial donations may be given in her name to National Kidney Foundation.
