Belva Whitlock

Belva Macgirvin Whitlock, 88, of Lafayette, IN and formerly of rural Covington passed away on December 7, 2009 at her residence. Belva was born on November 13, 1921 in Danville, IL to Joseph Ford and Mary Stipp Macgirvin. She married Gorman Whitlock on February 25, 1940 in Veedersburg, IN. He preceded her in death in November 2000. Surviving are a daughter Rebecca J. (Richard) Pfeifle, grandson Kevin Pfeifle, two step granddaughters Beverly Zeider of Lafayette, IN and Joan Pfeifle of Indianapolis, IN, step great grandson Jason (Kristy) Leider, two step great grandchildren Kira and Justin from Tucson, AZ, sister Marie McArdle of Danville, IL and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and a nephew. Belva attended Coal Creek Elementary School and Perrysville High School, graduating with the class of 39. She was a loving and dedicate home maker and worked at several factories. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Lafayette, IN and enjoyed her family. Her hobbies were taking care of flowers and reading. Graveside rites will be held at 11:00 am EDT Thursday morning at Lower Mound Cemetery north of Perrysville, IN with Pastor Thordarson officiating.
