Beatrice Joy Hussmann, 93, of Danville IL passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025 at the Loft Nursing Care Facility in Bloomington, IL.
Known as Bea, to her friends and Sis to many of her family members, she was proceeded in death by her husband of 64 years Paul Hussmann of Danville, her parents Leland and Pauline Barnes of Covington, IN, her sister Betty Hoagland of Danville, her sister Barbara White of Lafayette, IN and her brother Bobby Barnes of Covington. She is survived by her sister Theda Goodrich of Rensselaer, IN, her sister Charlotte Crain of Covington, her children Greg Hussmann of Batavia, IL, Glen Hussmann of Charlotte, NC, and Paula Everett of Bloomington, IL, 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Bea was born on August 29, 1932 in Fithian, IL the second of six children and grew up working hard on a farm caring for her younger siblings, tending to the garden and raising animals. She graduated from Covington Highschool in 1950 and completed nursing training at St Elizabeth Hospital in Danville earning an RN degree in 1953.
Throughout her life, many people described Bea as having a servant’s heart and her life’s calling into nursing was a perfect match for her kind personality, her intellect and her passion to help others. She had an accomplished nursing career spanning over 40 years and worked in a variety of areas including OBGYN, helping to deliver and care for hundreds of newborns, general surgery, psychiatric care and with local GP’s, including the late Dr. Max Hoffmann of Covington who delivered her own children and cared for three generations of family members.
Bea was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She cherished her family and friends and despite working long hours as a nurse, she nurtured a warm and inviting home with her incredible cooking and hospitality. Everyone was welcomed at Bea’s home and there was always something delicious simmering on the stove top or baking in the oven. She cared lovingly for her husband Paul and doted over her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her nephews and nieces as proudly as anyone ever did.
She was also a faithful and active member of Trinity Lutheran Church since 1955 and worked tirelessly on many church committees serving the local community over the years.
Since January of 2020, Bea resided at the Autumn Fields Assisted Living facility in Tilton, Il where she enjoyed the company and fellowship of the staff and residents.
Bea led a life of service and giving. She had a loving, lasting, positive impact on far more lives than she realized, especially those of us who were closest to her. She will be painfully missed and never forgotten.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday October 4th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Danville. Public visitation will begin at 10:00 AM at the church followed by a memorial service and burial ceremony at the Lutheran Cemetery in Danville.
