Barry Gene Holstein, 63, of Georgetown, passed away at 7:00pm, Monday, October 19, 2009, at his home. He was born on April 8, 1946, in Springfield, IL, the son of Charles Russell and Lela (Hamilton) Holstein, both deceased. He was first married to Mary Jean Freed on June 7th, 1975 in Danville the divorced. He later married Catherine Weston on January 22, 1993, in Danville. She will miss him dearly. Others who will miss him include: his daughters, Kary Jean Marshall of Danville, Tammy (Tim Williams) Weston of Georgetown, & Billee Bridgewater of Tilton; his ten grandchildren; his nine great grandchildren; and special friends, Granville Love & Kelly White, both of Danville. His daughter, Donna Jean, preceded him in death. Barry worked as a nursing assistant at the VA Medical Center in Danville for 18 years and had also worked at Vermilion Manor Nursing Home. He was a proud Veteran of the US Army where he served for two tours of duty during Vietnam. Barry was a member of the American Legion Dornblaser Post #203 of Georgetown. He enjoyed music, working with computers, and also liked to travel. A celebration of Barrys life will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, October 23, 2009, at the VA Protestant Chapel, 1900 E Main St, Danville, with Art Tabels officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior at the VA Protestant Chapel. He will be laid to rest in Danville National Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Dornblaser Post #203. Memorial donations may be made in Barrys name to the Harvest Time Christian Center of Georgetown. Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
