Covington - Barry Elliot, 56, passed away peacefully at home, after a battle with cancer, on April 25, 2014. He was born on June 13, 1957 in Danville, IL to William R. and Sara Jayne (Starkey) Elliot. They survive. He will be deeply missed by his daughter, Laura Jayne Elliot; granddaughter, Natalie Fares; and two special friends, Dennis Starkey and David Bechtold. He was preceded in death by son, Bradley W. Fares; grandparents Russell and Pearl Elliot and Harry and Sally Starkey. Barry graduated from Covington High School in 1975. He also graduated from Vincennes University with his Associates Degree in Psychology. Barry worked at Carmack Car Capitol in Danville as a salesman for 36 years. Barry was a member of the YMCA, where he enjoyed working out. He enjoyed playing racquetball and won several state tournaments. He also enjoyed running and watching sports. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and mushrooming. He loved animals and will be missed by his dogs, May and Duke. Barry was also a member of Benson Chapel Church in Covington, where he accepted Christ. Family would like to give a special thanks to everyone at Serenity Hospice, Dr. Sodhi, and Dr. Vasireddy for all their care given to Barry. A celebration of life memorial service and visitation will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Benson Chapel Church 3 miles west of Covington, IN on route 136. Visitation will be from 2:00-5:00 PM EST with a service starting at 5:00 PM EST. The service will be officiated by Reverend Zachary Rainey. Burial will take place at a later date in Mount Hope Cemetery. Sunsets Covington Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be given in his memory to the Danville YMCA.
