Barney D. Gillis

Portland, Tennessee - Barney D. Gillis, 86, of Portland and formerly of Cayuga, Indiana, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, Tennessee.

He was born November 5, 1930 in Cayuga, Indiana the son of the late Carl and Goldie (Leach) Gillis.

Barney married LaVonne Gibson on September 10, 1966 in Danville, Illinois. She preceded him in death on November 16, 1975.

Survivors include his children, David Matthew Gillis and Melinda Annette (Carl) Threet; three grandchildren, Douglas; Jimi and Latishia; five great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter due in July.

Barney attended Cayuga High School. He was the former owner of Barney's Snooker Parlor and Diner in Chrisman, Illinois.

Graveside services and burial: 10 a.m. CDT Monday, May 15, 2017 at Prairie Township Chapel Cemetery, Scotland, Illinois; Officiating: Keith Warner. There will be no visitation.
