Barbara J. Winters

Barbara J. Winters, 86, of Gifford, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2026. She was born on June 8, 1939, in Lincoln, Nebraska, the daughter of William and Estella Walker. She married Wendell B. Winters on June 27, 1959, in Lincoln, Nebraska; he preceded her in death.

She is also preceded by her parents and siblings, Merle, Darrell, Don, Richard, Rosemary, Kenneth, and Janice.

She is survived by her three children, Dan (Kathy) Winters, Diane (Neil) Baker and Ron Winters; a sister, Carolyn Donner; seven grandchildren, Hannah Winters, Nicole (Darren) Suits, Christopher (Jessi) Baker, Katie (Mike) Reid, Melanie, Emily and Sarah Winters; and great-grandchildren, Leo, Lucas, Albie, and Dash Suits, Eli and Raleigh Baker, Kaleb, Everly, Ollie and Isla Reid, Jeremiah, Rosalie, Zoey and Collin Winters.

Barbara was known for her many hobbies that brought her happiness and comfort. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, canning, sewing, and talking daily with her sister Carolyn. Above all, Barbara cherished her time with her grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be held at Huls Cemetery in Gifford. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center’s Lux Chapel is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

Memorial donations may be made in Barbara’s name to the American Diabetes Association.
