Danville- Barbara Halcomb McKinzie, 77, of Danville passed away at 1:15 PM on Friday, August 24, 2012 at Vermilion Manor Nursing Home in Danville. She was born on June 26, 1935 in Normal, IL to Hubert and Valla Parker Halcomb. She had previously been married to Jack McKinzie. He preceded her in death. Surviving are two sons, Kirk (Anna) McKinzie of Bloomington and Mark McKinzie of Georgetown; daughter Molly (Kevin) Snack of Catlin; three brothers, Gene (Lily) Halcomb of Flora, IN and John (Eunice) Halcomb of Urbana, and Sherrill (Odette) Halcomb of Danville; a sister, Lois (Richard) Murrell of Decatur; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. Barbara attended ISU and was an interior decorator in Danville. She also previously owned Camelot Furniture in Danville. Barbara loved music and enjoyed singing. She was very active in the Red Mask Theater and Danville Light Opera. Barbara was a long-time member at St. James Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and was a member of Circle Ten. A service to celebrate the life of Barbara McKinzie will be held at 10 AM on Monday, August 27, 2012 at St. James Methodist Church in Danville. Pastor's Justin Snider and Matt Filicsky will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 PM on Sunday, August 26 at Sunset Funeral Home, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Memorials may be made to St James United Methodist Church or Hospice at Vermilion Manor Nursing Home.
