Barbara J. (Arnold) Mcfadden

Barbara J. McFadden, 87, of Gifford, IL passed away peacefully on the evening of Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Country Health Care and Rehab, Gifford, IL.

She was born April 26, 1937 in Allen City, IN, a daughter of Forrest and Helen (LaRue) Arnold.  She married Cletus H. McFadden on March 20, 1957 in Gifford.  He preceded her in death on December 13, 2011.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Patricia (Ken) Decker of Crest Hill, IL; Paula (Dan) Heaviland of Columbia, MO, a brother Ron (Beverly) Arnold of Ft. Wayne, IN, 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by 5 siblings.

Barbara retired from the Gifford State Bank after 33 years.  She was a member of the Gifford United Methodist Church where she served as a lay speaker.  She was on the Board of Directors for Country Health and involved in the Penfield-Gifford American Legion Auxiliary.  She also enjoyed bowling league on Thursday nights in Rantoul.  Her hobbies included knitting and reading.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 on Saturday morning, August 10, 2024 at the Gifford United Methodist Church, 351 West Plumb, Gifford.  Rev. Kevin Little will officiate.  Her ashes will be interred in Indiana at a later date.

Friends and family are encouraged to greet the family for an hour prior to the service at Gifford United Methodist Church.

Memorials may be made to Country Health, Gifford United Methodist Church or the Champaign County Humane Society.
