Barbara Latham,88, affectionately known as Barb, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026, at OSF Hospital in Danville, Illinois. Born on January 5, 1938, in Danville, Illinois, she lived a life marked by warmth, joy, and a remarkable spirit that touched all who knew her.
Barb was a woman who embraced life with enthusiasm and delight. Known for her uplifting and fun personality, she found great joy in activities such as bowling, roller skating, dancing, and listening to music. Her zest for life was infectious and left a lasting impression on her family, friends, and community.
A lifelong learner, Barbara went back to college at the age of 55 and earned her associate’s degree—a testament to her determination and passion for growth and self-improvement. One of her proudest accomplishments was founding Ice Breakers, a singles dating club, which became a significant and cherished part of her legacy.
Barbara is predeceased by her beloved husband, Thomas Latham, who passed away in 2017; her parents, Roy and Dorothy (Burton) Russell; two brothers; and a great-grandson, Ray 'Allan.
She is survived and lovingly remembered by her children Robert (Debbie) Mack, Gary (Cathy) Mack, Randy Mack, and Dawne Marie (Kenneth) Jones; seven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Her family was central to her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Family, friends, and community members are invited to honor and celebrate Barb’s life at a visitation on April 9, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. est., followed by a memorial service from 7:00 p.m. est. Both will be held at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center, located at 420 3rd Street, Covington, Indiana, 47932. Barbara Latham’s legacy is one of resilience, joy, and love—a shining example of a life well-lived. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know her.
