Danville - Barbara L. Harper, 57, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2015 in her home in Danville. Barbara was born the daughter of Lee and Martha Harper on October 31, 1957 in Danville, Illinois. Barbara is survived by her loving daughter and best friend Angela (Cory) Willhite of Danville; three special grandsons Austin Willhite, Jonathan Willhite, and Caleb Willhite all of Danville; her sisters Martha “Marty” Parson of Danville, Betty (Robert) Elliott of Knoxville, TN, Polly (Phil) Hawley of Westville, and brother Milton “Cricket” (Sandy) Harper of Danville; several nieces and nephews; and many special and cherished friends. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents Lee and Martha, her brothers Bob Harper, Willie Harper, Rusty Harper, and sister Dolly Amos. Barbara worked at Quaker foods for over 37 years, she had a great work ethic which she passed on to her family members. Barbara had been a member of the YMCA since 2010 and enjoyed zumba classes at the “Y”. Barbara was known for her love of “The Wizard of Oz”, crossword puzzles, the peace that happened during a snow fall, the Hallmark channel, and watching “Little House on the Prarie”. She enjoyed traveling around the states, but fell in love with the coast at Myrtle Beach during her travels. Above all, Barbara was a family person; she loved spending cherished time with her grand children and her best friend and daughter Angela. She will be missed greatly by her family and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Carle Hospice, especially Karen Davidson, Dr. Labayog, Dr. Soni and the staff at Presence Cancer Center, and Dr. Grimm and the staff at Cadence Health Center in Chicago. Memorial Contributions may be made in Barbaras name to Carle Hospice in her memory. A celebration of Barbaras life will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday February 4, 2015 Sunset Funeral Home, a life celebration center, in Danville. Pastor James Blue will officiate. Burial will follow at Johnson Cemetery.
