Danville-Heaven gained an angel as Barbara June (Hodge) Crum left this world at 2:35 am Friday October 3, 2014. At the time of her passing she was at home surrounded by and being cared for by her five surviving children. June was a Valentines baby, born February 14th, 1931 to Charles and Emma (Westphal) Hodge. She spent her childhood in South Danville with her brother Donald Hodge (who preceded her in death). June would marry Harold Henry Crum on May 1st, 1948. The two celebrated 54 years of marriage before he preceded her in death. During their years of marriage June and Harold were most proud of the large family they had created starting with their 7 children; Linda (Donnie) Cope of Westville; Charlene (Dick) Campbell of Lafayette, In.; Gary (Kelly) Crum of Westville; James Crum of Westville, Rita (Larry) Stevens of Oakwood; Debra (Rick) Lybarger of Edwardsville; and Sherry Galyen of Danville. June was proud that the children she raised gave her 13 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, over 30 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren and a new arrival coming in February. June believed in devotion to family and as matriarch she spent her time attending sporting events, school concerts, family dinners, and celebrations for her large family. In her quiet time enjoyed word puzzles and visiting over coffee with friends. It was during these visits she felt immense joy in sharing stories about the antics of her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. June was preceded in death by her husband Harold, a son Gary, a daughter Charlene, and a grand-daughter Brandi. Funeral services for June will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 12:00PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville. Visitation will be held from 10:00-12:00PM at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will immediately follow the services where June will be laid to rest with her husband Harold at Sunset Memorial Park. Family asks that if you wish to make a donation in Junes name it be made to the American Cancer Society or Carle Hospice as they assisted in such a caring manner to her end of life comfort. Please join Junes family in sharing photos, videos and memories of her through her tribute wall at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com
