Barbara Jean Peelman

Barbara Jean Huffaker Peelman, 80, of Georgetown, passed away at 1:18am, Friday, July 1, 2016, at her home. She was born on November 12, 1935, in Scotland, IL, the daughter of Carl and Lena {Clouse} Huffaker. She was united in marriage to Roland "Skip" Peelman on November 24, 1955, in Scotland. He will miss her dearly. She will also be missed by: her son, Rick (Shelley) Peelman of Georgetown; her daughter, Pamela Crowley of Gibson City; her sister, Joyce (Fred) Witt of New Mexico; and her grandchildren, Ryan (Jo Ellyn) Peelman of Monrovia, IN, Aaron Peelman of Monrovia, IN, Michael Crowley of Gibson City, & William J. Peelman II of Chrisman. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her son, William Peelman; and two brothers. Barbara started out working as a secretary for an accounting firm and later worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital in the Radiology Department. Barbara finished out her career at Frazier School in Georgetown as the Librarian and in many other capacities through her 30 years of service before retiring. Her and her husband also owned and operated the B&S Ceramic Shop. In her spare time, Barbara enjoyed knitting, cooking, and traveling and had traveled to all 48 States. Above all, she cherished her grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. A celebration of Barbara's life will be held at 2:00pm, Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E West ST, Georgetown, with Pastor James Blue officiating. Visitation will be held 12pm-2pm on Wednesday prior to her service at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Forest Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in her name to Alzheimer's Association.
