Barbara Jean Miller, 79, of Danville passed away at 5:35 AM Monday, October 22, 2012 at Provena Covenant Medical Center in Urbana. Barbara was born on July 21, 1933 in Danville, the daughter of Frederick and Bessie (Frankenburger) Van Volkenburg. She married Harold Miller in January of 1953 in Danville. Harold preceded her in death in 1994. She is survived by three sons- Michael Miller of Springhill, FL, Mark Miller of Danville and Steve Miller of Danville, one brother- Hobart Van Volkenberg of Alabama, one sister- Bessie Ruth Smith of Danville, four grandchildren- Jennifer Gritton, Mark Gritton, Mikayla Miller, Miranda Miller and two great-grandchildren- Christian and Julana Gritton. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and five siblings. Barbara worked in food services her whole life, mainly in District #118 for over 20 years then retiring from the VA in 1998. She loved playing bingo, euchre and especially the Illinois Lottery. A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville with Pastor Doug Knapp officiating. A visitation will be held from 6:00-7:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 9:00 AM. Memorials can be made in Barbara's name to the charity of the donor's choice.
