Barbara Jean Kuras, 78, of Tilton, died at 4:30 p.m. Friday, February 11, 2005 at Carle Arbours in Savoy, Illinois. She was born January 8, 1927 in Danville, Illinois, the daughter of Oscar and Hannah (Anderson) Nelson. She married William J. "Bill" Kuras on April 6, 1947 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Danville. He survives. Other survivors include: 2 sons; Jim (Nancy) Kuras of Bismarck, Jeff (Joyce) Kuras of Tilton; 2 daughters; Tammy Brady of Danville, and Tracy (Kim) Barnstable of Littleton, CO; 9 Grandchildren- Amy (Mark) Toler, Jenny (Derek) Coon, Brett (April) Kuras, Wes Brady, Kara Barnstable, Stasch Kuras, Chris Brady, Sadie Jean Kuras and Kyle Barnstable; 4 great-grandchildren- Austin and Josh Toler and Ty and Kylee Coon; his mother-in-law- Mary Kuras of Westville, Illinois; 1 niece and 2 nephews; her dearest friend- Jean Quick of Danville and many other very special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, and her father-in-law Tony Kuras. Barbara was a 1945 graduate of Danville High School and was a homemaker. She was a lifetime member of Bethel Lutheran Church and helped in the altar guild, DORCAS, former choir director and member and also worked as a Sunday school teacher. She volunteered with the meals on wheels for many years. She enjoyed yard work and loved flowers. She enjoyed cooking and was famous for her pies. She was an avid Illini and Cubs fan. She enjoyed following her children and grandchildren's activities. She lived for her children and grandchildren and her family and church were her life's focus.
