Barbara Jane Smith

Barbara Jane Smith, 88, of Danville, IL passed away Wednesday morning, April 8, 2020, at the McLean County nursing home in Normal, IL.

Barb was born January 5, 1932 to Chester and Francis Clapp in Rossville, IL. She married Leroy D. Smith February 6, 1954 in Urbana, IL. He passed away October 7, 1968 as a result of injuries sustained in a car accident less than a mile away from home on Brewer Rd.

Survivors include her son Steve Smith and his wife Karen Smith of Bloomington, IL and an older sister Helen Bauman of Pontiac, IL. Her parents preceded her in death.

Barb worked as a registered nurse for almost 40 years in Danville retiring from Carle Care. Over the years she was often called upon by neighbors for advice on proper treatment of their kids illnesses and injuries. She was an avid reader and loved her pet beagles. Taking care of her flowers gave her great joy.

A private service will be held at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Westville, Illinois 414 S State St. Westville, Illinois 61883.
