Barbara J. Peck

Barbara Peck, 93, of Danville passed away on Friday, April 7, 2017. Known to most as Bobbie (and to some as Grandma Bobbie), she was born on August 28, 1923, in Maroa, Illinois. She grew up in Decatur, Illinois, and on September 1, 1946, married Clay Dustin Peck, Jr., who died on January 2, 1996. Bobbie was also preceded in death by her daughter, Janet. Bobbie is survived by her sister, Harriet (Janey) Walker of Decatur, Illinois; her son, Judd (Mary) Peck of Danville; three grandchildren, Graham Peck of Chicago, Gardner (Cindy) Peck of Danville, and Emma Peck of Danville; and a great grandchild, Caroline Marie Peck of Danville, with a second great grandchild due in June. Undaunted by her own health issues, Bobbie raised two children with dedication and strength. When her husband died in 1996, she returned to Danville to be with her family. She enjoyed her family and they her. As time passed, her family grew to include everyone she touched whether through her grandchildren's schools and events or shared vacations to Door County, Wisconsin. Within seconds of meeting Bobbie, her wit and charm were obvious. The older she got, the more of a license she had (and used) to let that wit and charm shine through, for better or worse. Bobbie enjoyed cooking for others (most especially her homemade noodles), playing cards, visiting with friends, and reading. She will be missed and fondly remembered by many. Having struggled the last few years, may she rest in peace, and may we all draw a lesson or two from the life of this "tough old bird." The family wishes to thank the many healthcare providers in the Danville community that took excellent care of Bobbie. It couldn't have been better. Her life will be celebrated at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville with a visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 and a service in her memory at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 12, 2017. In lieu of flowers, Bobbie's family requests that donations be made to a Vermilion County charity of the donor's choice.
