Barbara A. Huxtable, 78, of Downs, IL, formerly of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 4:43am on Monday, July 12, 2010 at the Leroy Manor Nursing Home in Leroy, IL. She was born on May 30, 1932, in Danville, the daughter of James Lloyd and Olive (Richards) Ferguson. On December 23, 1951, Barbara married Robert (Bob) Huxtable in Catlin, IL. Survivors include her husband, Robert, of Downs, IL, two daughters, Kathy Burns of Downs, and Anne (Rick) Hephner of Aurora, IL. Her five grandchildren, Jennifer (Tony) Manjarres of Bloomington, IL, Debbie (Jerry) Kassner of Middleburg, FL, Kevin (Leah) Burns, of Chandler, N.C., Matthew Hephner of Aurora, and Kristen Hephner of Aurora also survive her. Also surviving Barbara are her seven great-grandchildren, Jerry Kassner of Middleburg, FL, Alexis Kassner of Middleburg, Fl, Jessica Manjarres of Bloomington, Michael Manjarres of Bloomington, Brock Kassner of Middleburg, FL, Hayden Burns of Chandler, N.C., Kiersten Kassner of Middleburg, Fl, and her two nieces. Her parents, and her sister, (Clyde) Bonnie Barkman preceded Barbara in death. She attended Catlin High School and Cincinnati Bible College, majoring in music, where she met her husband Bob of 58 years. Barbara was a member of the Walnut Corner Church of Christ in Bismarck, IL. She loved music and often played the organ and piano at her church until she became ill a few years ago. She also loved planning church activities and was eager to host many of those events in her home throughout the years. She raised her children to love the Lord and always wanted serving Him to be a priority in their lives. She was a devoted homemaker and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her greatest enjoyment was when her family could be together in her home. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A Celebration of the Life of Barbara Huxtable will begin at 1:00pm on Friday, July 16, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, located at 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville with Sam Eddy officiating. Interment will follow at Walnut Corner Cemetery in Bismarck. Visitation for family and friends will be from 11:00am until time of service on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Barbaras name to the Walnut Corner Church of Christ in Bismarck.
