Barbara Hood, 63, of Danville passed away peacefully on Monday June 16, 2014 after a fifteen year struggle with Multiple Sclerosis, at Colonial Manor in Danville. Barbara was born the middle daughter of John and Margaret Hood on October 19, 1950 in Seattle, WA. Barbara is survived by her two sisters; Sharla (Frank) Stevens of Niceville, FL. And Lynne Red of Danville also surviving are two nieces; Michelle (Todd) Huerkamp and Angela Red; two nephews Monte Stevens and Chad (Nikki) Red. Barbara was preceded in death by her two parents and her former husband and friend Dan Winland. Barbara spent her adult life as a professional educator in the Danville District 118 schools for over twenty years she worked as a Teacher and Principal. She graduated from Northern Illinois University and got her master degrees from Eastern Illinois University. Barbara belonged to the Danville Rotary Club, she loved to travel and take long walks. She liked to visit Colorado where she enjoyed the Rocky Mountains. Barbaras family has entrusted Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville with arrangements. There will be no services at this time and interment will be at a later date in Colorado.
