Barbara Hembrey

Barbara J. (Bond) Hembrey, 83, of Catlin passed away with family by her side on August 15, 2015 at her home. Barb was born the daughter of Marshall and Anna (Weaver) Bond on December 6, 1931 in Danville, IL. She married the love of her life Robert Hembrey in 1953 he preceded her in death in January of 1989. Surviving Barb are five children Brenda (Stacey) Alsfeld, Marshall (Sheryl) Hembrey, Crystal (Larry) Nohmer, Tracey Hembrey and Stacey Browning, eight grandchildren; Amy, Eric, Gregory, Bryan, Stephanie, Lacey, Taylor and Zachary, six great grandchildren; Mikyala, Hannah, Carson, Brayton, Ava and Aiden, one brother; James (Sue) Bond. Barb was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband. Barb worked as a waitress for 35 years at Danville Elks Club. She enjoyed doing crocheting, knitting and sewing. Barb was a great cook but most of all she enjoyed the time she spent with her family. The family would also like to express special appreciation to Crystal Nohmer for the loving care she provided Barb at home over the past few years. A visitation will be held from 1-3 pm. on Wednesday August 19, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville at 3940 North Vermilion Street. With a private family burial at a later date. Barb's family asks that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association in her name.
