Barbara G. Swaim

Veedersburg, Ind. - Barbara G. Swaim, 61, of Veedersburg, passed away at 11:17 a.m. EST Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at her residence.

She was born February 28, 1956 in Clinton, Indiana the daughter of Harold and Shirley Ann (Decker) Daugherty.

She married Gerry D. Swaim, Sr. on November 30, 1973 in Montezuma, Indiana. He preceded her in death on September 6, 2013.

Survivors include three sons, Gerry (Amber) Swaim, Jr. of Veedersburg, Indiana; Harold Lee (Kendra) Swaim of Redmon, Illinois and Michael (Jessica) Swaim of Marshall, Kentucky; her father, Harold Daugherty of Mecca, Indiana; 12 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; four sisters, Debbie (Lester) Fellows of Mecca, Indiana; Pam (Jeff) Atkinson of Montezuma, Indiana; Shirley (Terry) Thomas and Vicki Stites, both of Mecca, Indiana; one brother, Mike (Angie) Daugherty of Veedersburg, Indiana; special friends, Myrtle Lilly and Elsie Smith both of Veedersburg, Indiana.

Barbara was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley Daugherty and sister, Connie Sue Daugherty.

Barbara was a homemaker. She was known in the Veedersburg area for helping the elderly when needed. She attended the First Christian Church of Veedersburg and Montezuma High School. She was a member of the Veedersburg Tri Kappa and Hub Civic Center. Barbara enjoyed playing bingo, taking trips and watching the Chicago Cubs and Indianapolis Colts. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and many friends.

Funeral services: 1 p.m. EST Friday, February 2, 2018 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Pastor Garland J. Pannell; Burial: Thomas Cemetery, Newport, Indiana; Visitation: 11 a.m. EST Friday, February 2, 2018 until time of services at the funeral home.
