Barbara (Bobbie Jo Wise) Hannan, 74 of Danville, passed away at 4:52am on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at her residence will family by her side. She was born on September 23, 1936, in Danville, the daughter of John and Lila (Buy) Wise. Barbara married Neil Andersen in Danville on October 6, 1956. She then married George Hannan on February 24, 1973; he preceded her in death in addition to her parents. She is survived and cherished by her brother, Fred Wise (wife Joyce) and her five children; Elaine (Andersen) Rife (husband Marty), Genevra (Hannan) Field, Anita (Hannan) Westlund (husband Todd), Georgia (Hannan) Patterson (husband John Vreuls), and Edward Hannan (wife Christi). Her sixteen grandchildren; Buffie (Donald) Bowen, Kathy (Jeff) Dorsey, Davin Field, Karlene (Brian) Sherrill, Karl Kelly, Kevin (Sarah) Kelly, Shannon (Rob) Shaffrey, Tammi (Steve) Nelson, George Hannan, Mandi (Alex) Castillo, Sean Hannan, Jenni Hannan, Michael (Shaheen) Gavin, Lexie Gavin, Shelli Gavin, and Stephen Gavin, all survive Barbara. She is also survived by her fourteen great-grandchildren; Dwayne Bowen, Sydney (Michael) Napier, Eagan Bowen, Autumn Bowen, Wyatt Bowen, Michael Dorsey, Mea Dorsey, Mason Dorsey, Marshall Dorsey, Kaitlyn Sherrill, Hannah Sherrill, Mackenzie Sherrill, Chase Kelly, and Clara Shaffrey; one great-great grandson; Zayne Napier, her extended family, and special friend, Larry Spencer. Barbara graduated from Henning High School. During the 1960s she worked as a lab tech for Aerosol Techniques, formerly known as, Continental Filling, until their closing in the 1980s. She then was employed at the Danville Public Safety Building, retiring from the Staff Services Department in May of 2002. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Danville. She enjoyed being with her family, listening to different genres of music, playing Bingo, and the fellowship with her many friends at the local VFW. Barbara also enjoyed reading, playing euchre, and traveling, especially her trips to Florida where she witnessed three space shuttle launches, including Astronaut John Glens last flight. During her years at ATI; she was active in the union, holding the offices of Treasurer and President. She bowled for many years in the Friday night mixed league with local 1271 at Lincoln Lanes in Danville. She will be sadly missed by all that knew her. Bobbies family would like to express their gratitude to RN Scott, Aide Tracy, Social Worker, Theresa, and all the Carle Hospice Professionals that were instrumental in taking such compassionate care of our dear precious mother. A Celebration of Life for Barbara Jo Hannan will begin at 10:30am on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 1949 N. Bowman Ave. in Danville with entombment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Bishop Bill Fulton has been asked to officiate the service. Visitation for family and friends will be 4-7pm on Monday, July 25, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, located at 3940 N. Vermilion Street in Danville.
