Danville Barbara Ann Waclaw, 94, of Danville passed away at 3:25 AM on Thursday, December 22, 2023 at her home. She was born April 7, 1929 in Danville to William and Gladys L. (Wyatt) Silverman. Barbara grew up in Danville, IL where she lived most of her life. For 10 years, she lived on a beautiful piece of land in Tennessee. Ultimately, she moved back to the area to be closer to family. Barb was a highly independent woman; living on her own well into her 90s.

She is survived by a daughter, Carla (Tim) Wheeler of Danville; three grandchildren, Stacey (Carl) Fox, Bryan (Michaela) Wheeler, and Kathryn (Mike) Bartenschlag; cousins, Ann (Jerry) Reid, and Morris (Carol) Solomon; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Tim and Michael Waclaw, a brother, William Silverman Jr., and a sister, Beverly Hamel.

Although Barbara worked outside of the home, she took pride in her full-time job caring for her home and family. She enjoyed spending her time quilting. She sewed beautiful quilts for her family that will always be cherished. She also enjoyed reading, cooking, and listening to music. Most of all Barb liked people and loved being with her family, especially her grandkids.

Barbara had a special nickname; "Bulldog Barb". She was strong, independent, and never gave up. She had a quick wit and loved to crack jokes.

The family would like to thank her Hospice team, Tanya and Peggy, for their dedication and care to Barbara and the family.

A visitation for Barbara Waclaw will be held from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834. A celebration of life service will follow immediately after. A private burial with family will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Danville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local cancer society or Crosspoints Human Services.
