Barbara Ann Mcbride

Barbara Ann McBride, 80 of Home Gardens, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at 6:00 AM. She was born November 15, 1935 in Danville the daughter of Paul and Barbara (Wichus) Galaskis. She married Jerry L. McBride of February 19, 1955 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Westville. He preceded her in death on April 15, 2011. She is survived by her son, Timothy McBride of Danville; special niece, Barbara Young of Bloomington; nephews, Paul J. "Chub" Galaskis III of Danville, Bill (Annie) Bott of Utah, and Bob (Ellen) Bott of North Dakota; great-niece and nephew, Lacy (Jim) Hicks of Bloomington and Nicholas (Lisa) Young of Batavia; great-great-nieces and nephews, Maddox, Lynley, and Raygan; and specials friends, Cathy Kaznoff of Burke, WV, Emma Lou Dunham of Westville, and Pat Sibbons of St. Louis, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband, brother, Paul P. Galaskis, nephew, Michael K. Galaskis, and niece Brenda Fry. Barbara graduated from Westville High School in 1953. She worked at Chicago Motor Club and part-time at Black's Hardware, Carson Pierie Scott, WITY, and modeled for Sudlow's Photography. She loved animals and enjoyed feeding the birds. She was also known for her cooking. Barbara was also an election judge for several years and helped out in many campaigns. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30pm, Saturday, March 12, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Westville with Fr. Deus Byomuhangi officiating. Visitation will be held 10-12 PM, Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, Westville, then will proceed to Mass. She will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery in Danville. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made in Barbara's name to St. Mary's Catholic Church or to the animal charity of your choice.
