Danville- Barbara A. Ohrt, 68, of Danville passed away at 9:09 AM on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. She was born on May 26, 1943 in Harvey, IL to Rodney and Francis Olsen Smock. She married Karl "H.R." Ohrt on April 15, 1987 in Markham, IL. He preceded her in death on November 4, 2008. Surviving are three children, Robin (Phil) Ferguson, Misty (Brian Cisarik) Vanderlinde, and Keith (Jeanne) Jarosz; four step-children, Bryan (Cam) Ohrt, Jennifer Frassrand, Ronald (Konnie) Ohrt, and Jaquie Ohrt; seven grandchildren, Tiffany, Andrew, Heather, Keith Jr., Brandon, Korina, and Jordan; seven step-grandchildren, Amanda, Michelle, Michael, Holly, Peyton, Madison, and Karli; and four step great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother, Eddie. Barb was the Queen of Volunteering, always putting others before herself. She gave her time freely at the American Legion Post #210, school functions and scouts for her kids, and received several acknowledgements for volunteering thousands of hours at the Danville VA. Barb had served as the volunteer coordinator for the VA Canteen and was also a member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary and was past District 118 President. Aside from her volunteer work, she had also been a member of the Retail Clerks Union working in grocery. A service to celebrate the life of Barbara A. Ohrt will be held at 1 PM on Friday, January 13, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home at 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL, 61834. Pastor Kent Tibben will officiate. Burial will follow at the Danville National Cemetery. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service on Friday, from 11 AM - 1 PM, also at Sunset in Danville. Memorials may be made to the VA Illiana Health Care System.
