Champaign - Babe Dee Washington, 86, passed away on Monday February 26, 2018 at her home in Champaign, IL. She was born on June 29, 1931 to Ezel and Mae Ella (Washington) Banks in Moorhead, MS. Babe is survived by her son Harry Charles (Iris) Banks Sr. of Lenexa, KS; grandchildren Mary Williams of Columbus, MS, Harry (Bevin) Banks Jr. of Kansas City, MO, Jeffrey Allen Banks Sr. of Grand Island, NE, and Terri (Anthony) Smith of Lenexa, KS; 9 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; siblings Frances Dukes of Moorhead, MS and George (Edna) Washington of Moorhead, MS; special nieces and nephews James (Joan) Woods of Kansas City, KS and Ernest (Ernestine) Woods of Champaign, IL. Babe was a creative woman with a passion for gardening flowers and vegetables. She accepted Christ as her savior and she loved to listen to the teachings and preaching of Dr. Charles Stanley. A celebration of Babe's life will be held at 11am on Friday March 2, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home, 710 N. Neil St. Champaign, IL 61820. Visitation will be held prior from 10am-11am at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made in Babe's name to Daily Bread Soup Kitchen.
