Audrey Lawver

Audrey J. Lawver, 86, of Danville, passed away at 6:37 a.m. Sunday, July 6, 2008 at North Logan Healthcare Center in Danville. Mom was born on May 8, 1922 in Lewistown, Illinois, the daughter of Ross and Charlotte (Grigsby) Farris. She graduated from Lewistown High School. Mom married our dad Russell Lawver in April of 1943 in Canton, Illinois. He preceded her in death. Van (Donna) Lawver of Danville is their son and Valerie Shelton of Ridge Farm is their daughter. The family moved to Olivet, Illinois in 1954 and lived there for many years. They owned and operated the Dog House Drive Inn in Ridge Farm during the 1960s. Mom worked as a breakfast cook at Lakeview Hospital in Danville for over 20 years. She also cooked for LaSallet Seminary in Olivet as well as St. Pauls School in Danville and for Father Motsett. Mom was famous for her homemade chicken and noodles and her sweet tea. After retiring, she continued to cook for her family and friends. She volunteered for Faith In Action and GED reading classes at DACC. Mom made many friends through the years with patrons, co-workers, Fathers from LaSallet and especially enjoyed her new friends after her move to Vermilion House in 1995. Mom was baptized at age 79 and became a member of Northland Christian Church in Danville. Mom loved Christmas, doing crosswords puzzles, sewing and of course cooking, but most of all she enjoyed baby sitting with her grandchildren. Mom will be greatly missed by her children Valerie and Van, her grandchildren, Kim (Tom) Darby of Danville, Chad (Mindy) Shelton, Brad (Dawn) Lawver, Shawn (Don) Nichols all of Georgetown, Van II (Jennie) Lawver and Eric (Cathy) Zimmer of Danville. Her great grandchildren Alexis, Jacob & Carson Darby, Lane, Gavin & Leyla Shelton, Kirsten Lawver, Stanley Newell, Evan & Preston Nichols and Gage Zimmer and her good friend Esther Shelton. Mom was preceded in death by her parents and sister Doris Larsen. Many thanks to all the wonderful staff at North Logan Healthcare for their love & kindness they gave mom during these last few
