Ashley Ann Jensen-Barrett

Ashley Ann Jensen-Barrett

She was a relentless warrior. She had a bottomless reservoir of courage and optimism. She was an inspiration. She was Strength and Love. That was Ashley Jensen-Barrett. Friday, June 16, 2017, Ashley Jensen-Barrett left this life. Ashley was born on December 1, 1983 to Rex and Nancy Jensen. She was a teacher, a writer, and most importantly a mother. Ashley found the true love of her life when Avery was born in 2012. Her love for Avery was indescribable. She loved fiercely, was compassionate and was full of adventures. Car picnics, road trips, park dates, and most importantly cuddling with Avery, the memories will never fade. For those of you that knew Ashley, whether it be for years or for minutes, we can all attest to her spark and beautiful smile. She also carried a positive charge of energy and her faith before and during her 4.5 year fight with breast cancer. Love not cancer defined her; she lived so much life and inspired so many people in her 33 years. Ashley taught us to never take a moment for granted, she found the true beauty in every single day. To her, being kind mattered, Ashley treated everybody like a somebody. Ashley is survived by her daughter Avery, her parents Nancy and Rex Jensen, her Gram Marilyn Rambo, sister Nicole Gilbert, nephew and friend, Austin, nieces Emilynn and Landynn, Uncle Richard Rambo, aunts, uncles, cousins, other family members, and countless dear friends who are family. Ashley was involved with Sigma Sigma Sigma at Northern Illinois University, a member of New Horizon Church, and involved in Big Brothers/Big Sisters. Family would like to extend gratitude for the excellent care, generosity received, and friendships at Rush Medical Center, Carle Hospital and Carle Hospice. Per Ashley's wishes, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to "Avery Barrett's Trust Fund". Donations can be made online through: YouCaring.com/AshleyandAvery or mailed to Rex and Nancy Jensen at 803 S Jeffrey, Mahomet IL 61853. In true Ashley style, a Celebration of Life will be held on July 8 from 4-10pm under the tent at 1402 West Oak Street, Mahomet.
