Arthur J. Kramp

Arthur J. Kramp of Danville passed away on March 6, 2023, at OSF Sacred Heart Hospital in Danville after recently celebrating his 93rd birthday. He was born on March 2, 1930, in Danville to parents Arthur F. and Eileen Kramp. After graduating from Danville High School, he continued his education at the University of Illinois before enlisting in the United States Navy in June of 1951. He was assigned to the destroyer USS Thomas E. Fraser (DM 24), and proudly served his country for 8 years before being honorably discharged in June of 1959.

Arthur worked for and eventually owned Kramp Construction Co., a business his father had founded before him in 1920. He enjoyed restoring old automobiles, attending antique car shows and swap meets, fishing, boating, and traveling in his free time.

Arthur was a past board member of the Allied Builders Association, a trustee for United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners Union Local 269 and member of the Knights of Columbus and the Elks Lodge.

Arthur is survived by his devoted wife of over 70 years, Beverly Wiesemann Kramp, and his son Raymond Kramp. He also leaves behind grandchildren Matthew (Nicole) Kramp and Meghan (Brian) Hardesty; and great-grandchildren Jackson Hardesty, Scarlet Hardesty, Maximilian Kramp, and Madeleine Kramp. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son James Kramp; and his sister Irene Makemson.

He and Beverly were members of Holy Family Catholic Church for many, many years. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, March 10, 2023 at 10:00 am at Holy Family Catholic Church, located at 444 E. Main Street in Danville. He will be laid to rest next to family at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery following Mass. A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2023 from 5:00 7:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, located at 3940 N. Vermilion Street in Danville. A recitation of the Rosary will take place prior to the visitation at 4:30 pm. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Holy Family Catholic Church.
