Arthur Hughes

Rantoul - Arthur Hughes, 61, of Rantoul, passed away at 2:44am, Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at his home. He was born on November 29, 1955, in Eta Jima, Japan, the son of Arthur & Marie Forte Hughes. He was united in marriage to Rhonda Redman on May 5, 1989 in Norfolk, Virginia, she survives. He will be dearly missed by: father, Arthur Hughes; his children, Jonathan (Kourtnee) Hughes & Whitney (Benjamin) Hudspath; grandchildren, Madilyn Hughes, Ben Jr., Elijah, Liam, Eleanor, Willow & Lilyanne Hudspath; brothers, Herman & Tommie Hughes of Chicago; sister, Janet Johnson & Linda Hughes of Chicago. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie. Arthur served in the Navy for twenty years. He was member of the Chess Federation. He loved spending his time playing chess and watching movies. Arthur also worked at Lincoln's Challenged Program as a team leader, mentored young chess players and was head of the Management Information Systems in Rantoul for 15 years. A celebration of Arthur's life will begin at 11:00 Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home, 710 N Neil St, Champaign. Visitation will be held from 11:00am to 12:30pm before the service on Sunday, February 19, 2017.
