Arrahwanna Gallagher

Arrahwanna Gallagher, 94, of Sadorus passed away Saturday, May 17, 2026, at home with her sister by her side.

According to Arrahwanna’s wishes, there will be a private family service. Sunset Funeral Home, Mahomet, is assisting with arrangements.

Arrahwanna was born Feb. 16, 1932, in Galena, Kansas, the daughter of Colento and Norma (Harpool) Stewart. After living in several states, she and her family moved to Illinois in 1942. She married Morris Gallagher in 1959; they were together until his death Sept. 11, 2024.

Arrahwanna attended Brown’s Business College in the early 1950s, where she studied bookkeeping. After marrying Morrie, she kept the books for his farm operation and also delivered meals to whoever was working in the fields. She loved traveling, especially to family reunions. She and Morrie enjoyed square dancing. She was an amazing baker and seamstress.

Arrahwanna is survived by her brother Junior Stewart and her sister Ruth Hieser. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters June Hill, Mae Reynolds, Lucille Golden, Delores McDonell, Anita Breen, and brother Ed Stewart.

The family would like to thank the Carle Hospice nurses for their care of Arrahwanna. Special thanks to Dr. Saad Al-Kadhi and his excellent staff for treating Arrahwanna’s macular degeneration, both medically and compassionately. Special thanks also to Dr. Muzammal Ahmed for his caring treatment and guidance for several years.
