Armister Hamilton Jr., 78, of Danville, Illinois passed away on August 1, 2010 at Provena USMC Logan Campus. Armister was born March 21, 1932 in Drew, Mississippi son of Armister and Hattie (McCranie) Hamilton Sr. He married Ila Ann Smith on October 31, 1954 in Danville. She survives along with four nieces and nephews that they raised as their own: Mary (Stanley) Hill, Shirley Perryman, Ardelia (James) Brown, and Alvin (Maria) Perryman; brother: Lester Parker; sisters: Saddie Barnes, Claudie Dean, Queenesther McCann, Ernestine White, Sally Green, Emma Pratt, and Lawanda Monroe; as well as several other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, sister Shirley Luckett, and niece Velma Smith. Armister attended school in Mississippi and later worked at General Motors as a battery attendant; retiring in 78. He enjoyed playing guitar, taking daily car rides, talking on the CB radio, and sitting on the porch relaxing. He was a member of Allen Chapel AME Church in Danville for a number of years, and also, the Local UAW 579 in Tilton. A Celebration of Armisters Life will be held at 12:00 pm, Friday, August 6, 2010 at Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:30-11:30 am Friday morning at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home 3940 N. Vermilion St. Danville, IL.
